OUR METHODS / EDITORIAL CONSTITUTION

THE STANDARD IS THE EVIDENCE

A strong editorial voice is compatible with exact quotation, fair context, reproducible analysis and an auditable corrections record.

POLICY 01

Purpose & independence

F-117A investigates factual claims and public power across party lines. No patron, funder, advertiser or candidate purchases favorable findings.

POLICY 02

Evidence hierarchy

Give priority to primary public records, original audio/video/transcripts and correctly contextualized official datasets. Distinguish secondary summaries from direct evidence.

POLICY 03

Exact quotes and context

Preserve speaker, date, original wording, surrounding remarks, source access status and quotation limitations. Never invent a source excerpt.

POLICY 04

Reproducible statistics

Specify units, denominators, dates, adjustments, source revisions and methods. Share calculation inputs where licensing allows.

POLICY 05

Seven findings

Supported; Accurate but incomplete; Misleading; Contradicted; Unsupported; Unresolved; Opinion/Rhetoric. Explain conclusions and uncertainties in writing.

POLICY 06

Incentives are not mind-reading

Investigate documented motives and political incentives but never present unobservable intent, coordinated behavior or corruption as fact without evidence.

POLICY 07

Corrections and revisions

Publish dated, specific material corrections, preserve prior versions in editorial audit history, and explain changed findings.

POLICY 08

Right of reply

Seek meaningful response before consequential adverse findings where practicable, identify response status, and publish material responses.

POLICY 09

Opinion and satire

Clearly label commentary and satire; factual assertions within opinion remain accountable to sources.

POLICY 10

Funding and conflicts

Disclose meaningful conflicts, funding relationships and sponsored messages; donations never control factual conclusions. Donations are not enabled in this preview.

POLICY 11

Privacy and fairness

Focus on public decisions and verified records. Do not publish irrelevant sensitive information about relatives or private individuals.

POLICY 12

Human editorial authority

AI may assist organizing sources, researching comparisons and drafting. Humans verify and approve every substantive factual conclusion.

POLICY 13

Historical documentation

Respect period context, archival gaps, publication dates and the difference between similar rhetoric and proven transmission.

POLICY 14

Rights, archives and X

Use permitted citations, quotes, embeds and licensed media. No unauthorized private X content or scraping is a product assumption.

POLICY 15

Editorial accountability

Give bylines, a visible correction request pathway, editorial contact procedures and responsive review of evidence-based challenges.
